Dine Now, Save Later
Many of you are probably familiar with the term “dine now, save later.” This is a program designed to market repeat business and maintain a base of regular customers. However, there are many methods of this program that may or may not fit into your business. Therefore, if you’ve tried it once and it didn’t work, chances are it just wasn’t the right one for your business.
“Dine now, save later” can work in any business, not only hospitality. In fact, many companies utilize similar methods of marketing. For example, airlines reward repeat business by offering future savings through points or miles. And that system can work equally in a restaurant.
Set up a program where your diners can sign up for points (or miles) that accrue according to their check totals. Have your wait staff solicit free signup cards before they order (so they can be ready with their check) or place a sign in the window detailing the program. The program has endless possibilities on how it can be set up:
One, five, or ten points is equal to a dollar
Points should total about 5% of the check
Punch cards
Offer double-point days (earning and/or spending), happy hour, etc.
Find other ways customers can earn points i.e. eating specials, tasting a wine, signing up a friend, etc.
Redeem points for gift certificates
By now you have thought of ten new ideas to add to this small list. It’s a fun and rewarding project if it’s done well.
